"classic, lo-fi, politically-influenced genre sounds like music to your ears" - Weakly County Press
Joshua Brooks is a singer-songwriter from Louisville Kentucky. An Airforce veteran who didn't recognise America he returned home too. His music holds a mirror up to a country divided and offers hope that it can come back together.
"I joined the US Air Force in 2008. I went to Afghanistan in 2011...In Afghanistan I worked on an airfield and assisted with medivacs (medical evacuations). I got out of the Air Force in 2012. I've struggled with PTSD and depression since getting out of the Air Force, and became homeless in 2016. I was homeless for two years, until 2018. I'm doing so much better now, as I've used my music as therapy and a way to express my negative emotions and turn my demons into art.
The song is about a few different things. The death of Stephon Clark, an unarmed black man that was shot to death by police in Sacramento, California. It also touches on my time being homeless, the corruption of the government, and the war in Yemen. How the US is helping fund and assist the Saudi led war which has left countless dead, including children." - Joshua Brooks
